Locum Veterinary Surgeon – Kettering
A well-equipped small animal hospital in Kettering is seeking a Locum Veterinary Surgeon to provide weekend cover across a range of dates from July to December 2026. This is a strong opportunity for a vet who is confident with sole charge and enjoys working in a hospital setting with a varied caseload of consultations and inpatients.

– Hours: 8am – 7pm
– Duties: Sole charge, consultations and inpatients
– Location: Kettering, Northamptonshire
– Rate: £550 per day
– Dates Required: 25 and 26 July 2026, 8 and 9 August 2026, 22 and 23 August 2026, 29 and 30 August 2026, 5 and 6 September 2026, 31 October and 1 November 2026, 14 and 15 November 2026, 28 and 29 November 2026, 12 and 13 December 2026, 19 and 20 December 2026
**About the Role**
This locum position will suit a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon who is comfortable working sole charge in a busy hospital environment. The role focuses on weekend cover, with responsibilities including consultations and the management of inpatients.
This opportunity offers a clear and structured working pattern, with shifts running from 8am to 7pm and a one-hour lunch break. For those travelling to the role, on-site accommodation is available for the Friday night before the shift and the Saturday night where required.
**About the Practice**
The practice is a 24/7 veterinary hospital with access to modern diagnostic and clinical facilities, including an in-house laboratory, digital radiography and ultrasound. It is supported by a dedicated night team, helping to provide round-the-clock patient care.
The wider team includes 12 experienced vets and 15 Registered Veterinary Nurses, creating a well-supported clinical environment. The hospital is RCVS accredited and manages a broad small animal caseload, from routine preventative healthcare through to advanced surgical procedures.
