Locum Veterinary Nurse – Irvine, Kilmarnock and Ayr
Key Details:
– Start Date: ASAP
– End Date: Ongoing
– Working Days: 4 days per week, with 1–2 Saturdays per month
– Hours: 8:30 am–6:30 pm
– Duties: General nursing across branches, including inpatient care, theatre, consult support, and client communication
About the Role:
The client is seeking a capable Registered Veterinary Nurse to provide locum cover across practices in Irvine, Kilmarnock, and Ayr. The role will involve a balanced caseload of inpatient nursing, anaesthesia and theatre support, nurse consults, and client liaison. The nurse will rotate between branches as required and should be comfortable adapting to varied workflows and teams. Confidence with routine RVN duties, good communication, and a methodical approach to record-keeping will be expected. The schedule is 4 days per week with 1–2 Saturdays per month, working 8:30 am to 6:30 pm. The position begins on 20 April 2026 and is ongoing.
About the Practice:
The practice operates multiple small animal branches serving communities across North Ayrshire and Ayrshire. Sites are equipped for general practice with modern consulting rooms, theatre facilities, inpatient wards, and diagnostic capability suitable for routine small animal work. The teams value collaborative working, standardised clinical protocols, and practical support for locum colleagues moving between sites. The locations are accessible between Irvine, Kilmarnock, and Ayr, providing varied case exposure and a supportive nursing network.
